29.07.2016

Leading local manufacturer and proprietor of the ENVIPLAST® brand, Inter Aneka Kimia Lestari recently participated in the Indonesia Chemical (INACHEM) Expo 2016 which was held at the Jakarta International Expo from 27th – 29th July 2016. Now running into its fourth year, the event was held in cooperation with esteemed organisations including Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry, the Federation of the Indonesian Chemical Industry, Indonesia Coating Centre, the ASEAN Chemical Industries Council, and the Chemical Engineering of Institution of Engineers Indonesia. With notable developments in the chemical industry, INACHEM 2016 strives to serve as a platform that highlights significant improvements that are being spearheaded by prominent local companies such as Inter Aneka Kimia Lestari. Furthermore, an estimated 2,000 visitors attended the event in which 200 local and international companies in Indonesia displayed their market-leading products; among them were Neste Singapore Pte Ltd, PT Austindo Aufwind New Energy, and PT Lautan Otsuka Chemical.

During the event, Inter Aneka Kimia Lestari exhibited its product range which included its in-house brands Aquaproof and ENVIPLAST®, to a number of local and overseas visitors. Taking advantage of its participation at the event, the company was able to raise greater awareness of the importance of bio-plastics as a solution to ongoing environmental issues. As such, ENVIPLAST® partook in a national seminar on the topic of ‘Developments of the Chemical Industry through Biomass (Biorefinery)’ whereby it was represented by Dr Asmuwahyu Saptoraharjo as Technical Consultant. During his presentation, Dr Asmuwahyu Saptoraharjo stressed the need to push for advancements in biotechnology to support environmental sustainability, which can be fulfilled through the use of bio-plastics.

Indonesia currently produces 250 million tonnes of plastic waste products annually, therefore necessitating the implementation of stringent measures to reverse this trend from the private sector as well as the local government. Since its introduction of the ENVIPLAST® brand, Inter Aneka Kimia Lestari has since continued with its research and development efforts; the company is looking into various methods to improve upon ENVIPLAST®’s moisture sensitivity level in addition to mastering the formula in the creation of bio-plastic products – a vital skill for companies in bio-plastic manufacturing, as reiterated by Dr Asmuwahyu Saptoraharjo. Through its most recent participation, ENVIPLAST® demonstrated its capability to influence the future trends of the chemical industry through its innovative products as well as its utmost dedication to cutting-edge research developments in bio-plastics.
