On 21st February 2017, Panggung Electric Citrabuana along with 22 other companies obtained the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification which was presented in a ceremony held by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in Jakarta. Initiated by the World Customs Organization (WCO), AEO status is a certified standard term assigned by the WCO for supply chain security programmes that meet a wide-range of criteria to secure and facilitate exports; Indonesia launched its AEO programme in 2015 and thus allowed Indonesian companies to apply for AEO certification soon after.
Present at the event was the Deputy Minister of Finance Mr Mardiasmo and President Director of Panggung Electric Citrabuana Mr Ali Soebroto who accepted the award on behalf of the company. Upon deciding the winners, participating companies were judged on a variety of criteria ranging from a sufficient trade and data management system to the integrity of employees to information exchange system and cargo and shipping security — preparing for the AEO certification involved carefully examining the company’s entire supply chain with the ultimate goal to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
Furthermore, in attaining AEO status, Panggung Electric Citrabuana can benefit from faster application processes for customs authorisation, simplifications for regular shipping services, guaranteed waivers, and a centralised clearance when one or more member states are involved in the customs procedures as well as being able to make periodic bulk customs declarations which would generate considerable time and save costs.
In achieving this accolade, Panggung Electric has demonstrated its capacity to introduce best practise procedures and establish supply chain transparency while fulfilling security and compliance regulations which will enable the company to gain a competitive advantage in its capacity to export electronic goods.
