30.07.2016

Respected retailer of modern fashion, Sarinah participated in a community welfare event on 29th – 30th July 2016 in partnership with numerous state-owned enterprises. The event took place in Wonosobo Regency, Central Java and strived to assist local carica farmers and producers to expand upon their market reach in addition to aiding in the entry to export markets; caricas are commonly known as mountain papayas and have become a staple commodity of Wonosobo through the locally-made Carica brand.

During the 2-day event, senior-level management members of prominent state-owned enterprises including President Director of Sarinah, Ms Ira Puspadewi and Mr Agus Andiyani as President Director of PT Bhanda Ghara Reksa (Persero) reiterated their commitment to distribute Carica products to key cities throughout Indonesia. By taking advantage of Sarinah’s widespread network of partners, the company will therefore make available Carica goods to a number of state-owned cooperatives; PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara’s cooperative has placed an order for 200 cartons of Carica through Sarinah. Moreover, this latest measure will enable Sarinah to introduce Wonosobo’s agricultural diversity to leading state-owned enterprises, namely for the regency’s specialty carica fruit.

Through its most recent venture to support local farmers as well as producers, Sarinah has demonstrated its unwavering dedication to the betterment of Indonesian communities. It is hoped that by providing a platform for the retail of Carica products, Sarinah will be able to facilitate with marketing and sales support hence aiding in the ongoing community and economic development of Wonosobo Regency – which hosts the poorest city in Central Java – in addition to raising greater public awareness for the economic potential of Indonesian agricultural produce.
