On 17th June 2016, Sarinah in cooperation with the National Forum on Public Relations for State Owned Enterprises hosted the “Takjil On the Road, the Beauty of Togetherness & Sharing” break fasting event at its Thamrin department store. The leading retailer was also joined by PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk, PT Bank Mandiri Tbk, PT Hutama Karya (Persero), and PT Pertamina (Persero) among other leading state owned companies. Prominent attendees also included Mr Teddy Poernama as the Secretary General for the National Forum on Public Relations for State Owned Enterprises, President Director of Sarinah Ms Ira Puspadewi as well as senior-level management from its partners and their subsidiaries.

As part of the programme, Sarinah in addition to members of the national forum distributed 700 packages of takjil – a snack to break fast during the Ramadan month – and 1,500 bottles of water to bajaj drivers, passer-bys, motorbike drivers, and cars that passed by Sarinah’s Thamrin location. Furthermore, Sarinah and its state owned partners hosted a private break fasting ceremony with orphans from the Petamburan, Central Jakarta area at the retailer’s Ruang Tengah café which therefore highlighted Sarinah’s commitment to uphold its corporate social responsibilities. As such, Sarinah’s recent participation demonstrates the modern retailer’s ongoing efforts to support events to improve upon the welfare of local communities in Indonesia.
