On 24th November 2015, ASDP Indonesia Ferry commenced the operation of a new modernised ticketing system at the Port of Merak and the Port of Bakauheni. The implementation of the latest generation Automatic Ticketing System (ATS) at these two ports serves as a pilot project prior to implementing the system throughout all of Indonesia’s inter-island crossings.
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) on 29th August 2015 officially commenced the operation of five new pioneer vessels designated to serve several routes in Eastern Indonesia. Marked by an inauguration ceremony at the Port of Arar in Sorong, West Papua, Mr Ignasius Jonan as Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation, presided over the launch.
ASDP Indonesia Ferry on 6th August 2014 provided an overview on its successful endeavour to ensure the safe and efficient transport of passengers making the annual trip to their hometowns to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, or Lebaran as this major national holiday is referred to in Indonesia. ASDP transported more than 3.5 million passengers travelling to destinations across the archipelago - a 5% increase compared to 2013.
On 4th August 2014, ASDP Indonesia Ferry announced to the local media its plans to buy seven ferries over the course of 2014. With the addition of these ferries, purchased used from countries such as Japan, ASDP Indonesia Ferry will lay claim to a fleet of 137 ships serving 159 routes across the archipelago.
