Coinciding with the company’s milestone achievement of 1 million chairs sold during a calendar year, Chitose in 2001 initiated collaboration with Kyowa Sobi Japan to produce budget hospital beds that meet stringent international standards. Through technical assistance from its international partner, Chitose has gone on to develop far-reaching manufacturing capabilities for highly specialized hospital furniture that extends to more than 10 distinct hospital beds and an expansive collection of accessories and supporting equipment (See Chitose Hospital Items and Specs). The company’s initial expertise in manually operated crank beds has over the last decade evolved into an advanced proficiency in producing hospital beds with more complex electric operation systems, such as the CB-3000 Series geared towards developed export markets.

Chitose’s hospital furniture products are manufactured in accordance with the key principles of safety, hygiene, cutting edge technology and environmental responsibility. Close attention to detail is paid from R & D through to post-production testing to ensure that every order meets the company’s strict quality requirements. A skilled team of in-house engineers oversees the implementation of features such as a Total Lock System to provide stability and secure parking, and ergonomic design for full body support.

Complementing Chitose’s focus on affordable hospital beds is its assortment of accessories and auxiliary equipment encompassing mattresses, side rails, irrigator bars, headboards and footboard panels. By providing these items, Chitose mitigates a hospital’s need to source its furniture from multiple suppliers. Diversification into maternity ward equipment such as baby cots stands to further the company’s penetration of a niche sub-industry within what is already a specialized area of business.

Chitose’s timely venture into the manufacture of hospital items places the company in a position of strength just as Indonesia rolls out sweeping changes to its healthcare system. With a universal healthcare program set to launch in 2015, the country’s need for new hospital facilities to account for the influx of patients is now more apparent than ever. Having enjoyed an immense 212.06% increase in sales for the hospital segment between 2012 and 2013, Chitose expects to thrive in conjunction with this widening scope for opportunities and is open to working with foreign partners as a means of meeting new demand.
