Chitose Internasional Tbk is thoroughly committed to fulfilling its obligations as an industry-leading company to contribute to the well-being of society and the surrounding community. In keeping with its move into the manufacture of school furniture, the company has in recent years focused its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs on encouraging the development of early childhood education in Indonesia. On 26th April 2013, Chitose provided learning facilities in the form of desks and chairs to SD Inpres Toddopuli Makassar – a local primary school – during an event at the Grand Clarion Hotel in Makassar. This latest CSR initiative follows on from similar programs in which Chitose donated school furniture to kindergartens and primary schools in Cimahi (2010), Yogyakarta (2012) and Medan (2013).
In addition to providing desks and chairs to schools across the country, Chitose plays an active role in the education of Indonesia’s young minds through a comprehensive scholarship program for its employees’ children. Since 1992 the company has granted scholarships to more than 785 students pursuing education at the primary and secondary level.
Other Chitose CSR programs include the donation of staple goods to victims of natural disasters that have taken place in areas such as Padang, West Sumatra; Ciwidey, West Java; Banda Aceh, Aceh; and Nias, North Sumatra.
