Binabusana Internusa | VIVERE Kitchen Supports Earth Hour with an Event at Central Park Mall, Jakarta

VIVERE Kitchen, in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) organization and Ariston, proudly presents the VIVERE Earth Hour Campaign to participate in the International Earth Hour program which took place on 23rd March 2013. On the same day, an event was held at Tribeca, Central Park Mall, Jakarta with the slogan “What Will You Do to Save The Planet?”, which was intended to raise the issues of saving energy, reducing the carbon footprint and a green living lifestyle.

At this event, VIVERE Kitchen presented the VIVERE Green Pop Up Kitchen. It began with a cooking demo to promote healthy living and energy saving habits using a VIVERE Kitchen presented by Chef Budi Lee, the President of the Indonesian Young Chef Club. It continued with an in-house food presentation served by the VIVERE Team and professionals who are experienced in the field of environmental protection and health.

VIVERE also invited people to participate in this program by creating their own Earth Hour campaign on Facebook and pledging to cook and serve their meal during the hour ‘switch-off’ event at Central Park if more than 1,000 people pledge to cook at home to save energy (Twitter tags: #IWILLIFYOUWILL #EarthHour2013).

VIVERE also invited everyone to take part in saving the universe, starting from small actions such as cooking at home to save energy and reduce transportation emissions as well as using VIVERE products, furniture and kitchenware that are made with eco-friendly materials and finishings.

Further advice on how to implement energy saving behaviour was offered such as:

  • Having a kitchen that is green by design. The 2013 trends in kitchen design reflect people’s preferences for cooking and eating at home. As a place for gathering together; kitchen design is crucial to encourage the family to get involved in the cooking process and inspiring people to eat healthier. Good kitchen design is one in which the arrangement of the modules follows the green living standard and accommodates energy efficient cooking.
  • Choosing energy efficient appliances. Switching to energy efficient home appliances and looking for the eco-green label logo can help in reducing energy using as approximately 17% of total home energy bills are attributed to the use of major home appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, and washer/dryers.
  • Cooking at home. Not only it is more fuel efficient and reduces waste, but it also provides a healthier lifestyle.
  • Using fresh local ingredients. Choosing local ingredients reduces the carbon footprint and emissions as well as supporting the local community and farmers. Also, choosing fresh foods such as vegetables & fruit is of benefit to general health and has less carbon emissions in production in comparison to meat.
  • Recycling waste. Separating domestic waste at home (paper | glass | plastic | organic | battery | electronic | metal) by putting each type of waste in a separate wastebin.

VIVERE hopes that the event will raise public awareness of how important it is to save the planet for future generations. It depends on the ability to empower individuals and to inspire their friends, colleagues, neighbours, and even lawmakers to take environmentally sustainable actions starting from now. “Earth Hour now offers more ways for millions of people to encourage positive action for the environment”, as stated by Earth Hour CEO and Co-founder Andy Ridley. This event was open to the public and attended by several media outlets, actors, Earth Hour community members, WWF World Council Representatives and Central Park Mall Management.
