Eurocham | Launch of EU-Indonesia Business Network (EIBN)

The EU-Indonesia Business Network (EIBN) was officially launched on the evening of Tuesday 12th November 2013 at the InterContinental Jakarta Midplaza Hotel.

The EIBN is a five year program, co-funded by the European Commission and is a partnership between EuroCham, Ekonid, IFCCI, INA, BritCham, EuroChambres and CCI Barcelona.

The focus of the program will be to promote Indonesia as a potential trade and investment destination in the EU and will provide an entry point for European companies, particularly SMEs, looking to enter, and invest in, the Indonesian market.

The event was officially launched by the Chairman of Eurocham, Jakob Sorensen, the Managing Director of EKONID and Project Director of EIBN, Jan. H. Roennfeld, and EU Ambassador to Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam and ASEAN, H.E. Olof Skoog.

Despite the fact that Indonesia is a rapidly growing economy and has become one of the EU's strongest trading partners, Ambassador Skoog outlined that a market access service such as that provided in this project is vital to reducing trade barriers and improving trade links between Indonesia and the EU.

Over the course of 5 years, the EIBN will coordinate 140 events in Europe and ASEAN, publish around 30 publications, in addition to the development of an online information portal whereby all updates and advice relating to doing business in Indonesia will be recorded. The project will also focus on the development of activities related to advocacy and improving the policy dialogue between the Government and Parliament of Indonesia and the European Union, the Indonesian business sector, European Chambers of Commerce, and other stakeholders.
