This seminar was the second of its kind in Jakarta following the successful launch of the ASEAN IPR SME Helpdesk in June this year and highlighted some of the more common misgivings and mistakes concerning intellectual property made by EU SMEs when doing business in Indonesia. With ASEAN quickly transforming into an integrated region with free movement of goods, services, investment, skilled labour and a freer flow of capital, new opportunities as well as challenges arise in terms of protection of intellectual property assets. ASEAN IPR SME Helpdesk Expert, Mr. Andew Conduit, highlighted the importance of intellectual property rights protection when penetrating the Indonesian market. Mr. Conduit was keen to raise awareness among European entrepreneurs and SMEs on the value of intellectual property in today's economy, with particular emphasis on making sure SMEs have the correct IP strategy in place in order to avoid making common IP related mistakes. Andrew spoke about the benefits to adopting a solid IP strategy in your business citing case studies and taking questions from the audience. Mr. Jakob Friis Sorensen, Chairman of EuroCham Indonesia and Mr. Paul Kelleher from the ASEAN IPR SME Helpdesk also spoke at this event.
