Endowment Funds

Bahana TCW manages multiple endowment funds, in keeping with a company-wide commitment to a sustainable and responsible investment strategy. These fixed income mutual funds are primarily focused on Indonesia’s education sector as well as biodiversity and environmental conservation.

Kehati Lestari, the first green fund in Indonesia, is managed by Bahana TCW Investment Management on behalf of the KEHATI Foundation, an organisation directed to administer resources in the form of grants, facilitation, and consultation to support programs for biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of Indonesia’s natural resources. Launched in 2007, the fund sets about mobilising financial support from the public and largely comprises investors in the form of companies fulfilling CSR objectives and interested in investment in green initiatives. With an investment return of total fixed revenue in excess of 68% since its inception, or 10% above the annual average (as of March 2013), the fund is particularly well suited to corporations looking to raise their profile as an advocate for positive change in the use of Indonesia’s bounty of natural resources.

The Makara Prima Endowment Fund is an open-end fund that was launched in 2004 to offer investors an opportunity to contribute their returns to the development of higher education in Indonesia. Depending upon their participation as a Platinum, Gold, Silver or Regular Investor, investors can contribute returns from the Makara Prima Endowment Fund to be used by the Alumni Association of Universitas Indonesia’s Faculty of Economics in creating scholarship programs and developing campus facilities. The fund allocates 40-100% of its capital to investment in fixed income instruments, 0-60% in money-market instruments, and 0-20% in the equity market.

The Ganesha Abadi Endowment Fund is managed by Bahana TCW Investment Management with a strategy similar to that of the Makara Prima Endowment Fund, with 80-98% of capital invested in fixed income securities and the remaining 2-20% invested in money-market instruments. Investors are afforded with the opportunity to contribute their returns on investment to be used by the Alumni Association of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in funding the development of their alma mater.
