On 14th March 2016 BNI Syariah signed an MoU with PT Pegadaian that will make available additional financial services for hajj pilgrims. Through this partnership, customers who utilise Pegadaian’s services for hajj purposes will be entitled to open a BNI Syariah iB Baitullah Hasanah account to deposit their hajj savings. Senior level management officials present at the event included the Director of PT Pegadaian Mr Harianto Widodo and President Director of BNI Syariah Mr Imam Teguh Saptono. PT Pegadaian is a state-owned financial institution that specialises in fiduciary services in Indonesia.
BNI Syariah has been appointed by the Indonesian government as one of an esteemed group of 20 banks that are permitted to exclusively handle hajj funds. The bank is poised to potentially manage 100 billion IDR from the 4,000 clients that take advantage of Pegadaian’s services. Moreover, PT Pegadaian will assist in co-branding BNI Syariah’s Hajj and Umroh Indonesia Card to its clients; the card facilitates and eases the process of cash withdrawals via ATMs and other transactions for pilgrims while in Saudi Arabia.
BNI Syariah’s continued focus on forging new synergies with governmental and private institutions, both at the local and international level, showcases the bank’s commitment to developing Indonesia’s Islamic banking sector. This most recent collaboration serves to solidify BNI Syariah’s prominent standing among the country’s leading Shariah-compliant financial institutions, and a testament to the core value of Hasanah.
