On 29th September 2015, BNI Syariah received ‘The Most Innovative Product in Shariah Market’ award for its Kartu Haji dan Umroh Indonesia product from MasterCard during the 2015 MasterCard Innovation Forum. Mr Dinno Indiano as President Director of BNI Syariah accepted the award at the event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As an initiative from a leading global company renowned for its payment-processing services, the MasterCard Innovation Forum is an annual event that gathers MasterCard partners, financial services experts, merchants and the public sector to discover and discuss the latest developments in technology, products and services within the payments industry.

Having been commended for the ingenuity of Kartu Haji dan Umroh Indonesia, Mr Indiano reasserted BNI Syariah’s commitment to continue its cooperation with MasterCard in order to provide benefits for Indonesia’s Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. “Holders of Kartu Haji dan Umroh Indonesia gain convenience in carrying out banking transactions during their stay in the holy land through the availability of a vast network of ATMs and merchants with the MasterCard logo,” he explained.

Launched on 30th January 2015, the Kartu Haji dan Umroh Indonesia card is one of the facilities provided by BNI Syariah through its Tabungan iB Baitullah Hasanah savings through which pilgrims can obtain merchant discounts. This feature complements the card’s primary function of enhancing convenience and security in handling banking activities and avoiding the need to carry money in cash during their travels. As Indonesia’s first debit card linked to Hajj and Umrah savings, BNI Syariah is set to take advantage of the overflow of Indonesians who take part in the pilgrimage every year. This potential extends even further as the card can still be used as a debit card even after the religious obligation has been completed.
