Trilogi University on 1st October 2014 announced its plans to cooperate with the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, in keeping with its emphasis on preparing students to face the current global economy. The proposed partnership will see the embassy facilitate student exchange between Trilogi University and institutions of higher education in Japan, as well as encourage industry visits to Japanese businesses. This is to include visits to the many Japanese companies with operations in Indonesia. The announcement was made following a meeting between Trilogi University’s rector Dr. Ir. Asep Saefuddin and the Minister of Information and Culture of Japan to Indonesia, Mr Yusuke Shindo, on 26th September 2014. Held at the Embassy of Japan in Jakarta, this meeting was also attended by Professor Yodfiatfinda, lecturer of Bio Industry at Trilogi and follows on from the university’s endeavours to showcase Japanese culture through events such as the annual Trilogi Japanese Creativity (Tri-J-Vity).
Trilogi University’s cooperation with the Embassy of Japan is set to take place within the context of the upcoming 2015 ASEAN Economic Community. As explained by Dr Saefuddin, universities must adapt to make sure its students are ready to compete amidst greater regional integration. “It [the ASEAN Economic Community] will create challenges and opportunities to be met by the country collectively, especially for students who will shape the future of Indonesia’s continued development,” he said. In addition to its collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, Trilogi University intends to initiate similar partnerships with Korea and countries in Southeast Asia.
