On 29th June 2013, Sewu Segar Nusantara, through its Sunpride® brand, hosted Fruit Summit 2013 in celebration of International Fruit Day. Held in Menteng, Jakarta, the event presented the general public with an opportunity to meet with fruit producers and provided an insight into forthcoming innovations in the industry. The event also drew upon a host of different perspectives on the current and future state of the Indonesian produce sector from speakers such as Dr Ir. Sobir PhD, the head of tropical fruit studies at IPB; Dr Ryan Thamrin, nutritionist often featured on Trans TV and Mr Martin Widjadja, acting CEO of Sewu Segar Nusantara.
In addition to the forum and keynote speeches, Sunpride® also organised several activities including a writing competition and fruit-themed costume contest. Winners of these events were awarded with free Sunpride® products for up to three months as well as vouchers and gift cards. Fruit Summit 2013 also awarded prizes to individuals who posted the best tweet about the event on Twitter, in keeping with the company’s focus on digital marketing to promote their brands.
As the leader in Indonesia’s fruit production and distribution sector, Sewu Segar Nusantara has both the resources and market presence to organise pioneering events such as Fruit Summit 2013. The company, now planning on making this an annual event, has set about encouraging the Indonesian public to engage in further innovation to continue to drive progress in the fresh produce industry as it strives to become more competitive internationally.
